Supriya Sule Accusations of IPL
In relation to the Lalit Modi scandal, Sule, however, back in 2010, denied any connections to the IPL, when the wooden spoon used so frequently during the chastening was passed around with aplomb on suspicion of higher-level irregularities and the resignation of Shashi Tharoor, the Junior External Affairs Minister of India, from the government’s cabinet. It was reported, however, that her spouse (through a power of attorney through his father) controlled 10 percent of a corporation that had exclusive multi-year broadcast rights for IPL’s matches. It is my utmost pride and firmly stated that these problems (the IPL bids) have nothing to do with my husband or my family or anything as such ... We do not get involved in these, no ways. Yes, our family, my husband my kids, all of us, watch cricket, but that is as far as it goes.” Asked about this later on, she claimed to be a minority stakeholder and stated that she does bear any responsibilities for the company’s conduct.
